How much does Psychonauts cost?
Posted by Bashar under Adventure, Entertainment, Video Games
Following the high reviews it received, and my friend Kroms’s nagging and pushing, I decided to ignore my demo perception and still buy Psychonauts. After all, how much would it cost? $9 only on Amazon. I didn’t want however to pay for the shipping, so I thought of looking for a downloadable soft version of the game when I landed on Double Fine (developing company of the game) and guess what? The game costs $40, and it even goes up to $50 for the signed version of it! How on earth does that happen? The game costs 4 times the price of Amazon, who are offering it through a reseller, where everyone is taking small part of the share. I’m not sure their shop is working for real, but obviously no one is updating it. Best top anticipated game launches at $49.99 at most (same applies for PS3 games here), one year later, even the best game’s price goes to as low as $12. New games are coming, no one is gonna look at the old games any more. Anyways, I had to go with the shipping cost option from Amazon, and on the way dropped a few more nice games in the basket ;).

AHA! Tim will finally give me that raise!
You could have downloaded the PC version off Steam, though. :)
What were the other games you bought?

It’s not over yet kroms. If I don’t like the game I will ask for my money back!
As for steams. I found another FREE download site, but I doubt it’s a legal copy. If you are Tim Schafer or what ever fan, first thing you should do is support him :)
Other Games I bought:
Secrets Of The Ark: Broken Sword Iv
TMNT (Just because it’s Prince of Perisa engine based)
Hans Christian Anderson The Ugly Prince Duckling
Crazy Machines 1.5 (Some nice physics in that game)
Some heavy shopping for a $10 game ha!!!
Anyways, I’ve added them to my aStore for interested people. I will update it after I play the games and see which ones are real worthy :)

Some deals on Amazon are incomprehensible. In a good way ofcourse.

LOL Bashar, Steam is legal. You pay, but you get it. Very Gametap like.
Hmmm…well it seems like a good bunch. Check Eurogamer for good games, they’re the best in the field.

3baid: Yeah, and even if you find a slightly better price, soon after you put the order you regret it. Quality of service is mostly terrible else where.
kroms: Ohh great :). I’ve bookmarked it. But stop pushing me for more games. The one’s I bought are likely to remain untouched for months before i have the time.

Hey, I just recommend stuff. :P

Sooooo … Did you like it? :)

Didn’t try it yet. I just got my new video card last week, my old one had the fan jammed I had to replace it. Since I replaced it I only managed to play 2 times TMNT. I will write a full review about it maybe, but in summary I can tell it’s not a must game.
I will give your game a shot once I got the time ;)

IT IS A MUST-GAME! Goodness :P And I hardly played it.

WHAT? After all that and how you pushed me to buy it you tell me you hardly played it!
I tried to play it more than month back and on startup it gave error Send don’t Send
I tried to contact the company but guess what, not official site and neither Double fine have contact email! Really silly!
I found a batch and it seems to have fixed problem. Not sure yet, gotta try to play the game first.

The little I played was enough: it’s a must-have. It’s like Shadow of the Colossus in that regard.
And, what did you think of it?
July 16th, 2007 at 9:43 am
Well… you would want to punch me in the face right now, but hear this:
When I first wanted to play it, the game gave error immediately on game startup. Report Error didnt help. I went to their site and Double Fine site as well, not a single Contact Us link!!! What kind of company is this? Sorry but it’s not a way of doing business.
Anyways, i managed to find a patch that seems to have fixed it, but I’m so busy and right now, i got like 10 new games I need to play. Did I mention I recently over spent on luxury and got Wii and PS3??? Still didn’t try PS3 though, but I wanted to get it from outside as my brother in law was coming back.
Add to it, I resigned recently from my job and it’s a shifting period. I will take 1 month break during which I may enjoy some quite time gaming… by that time assasin’s creed should be released.

Double Fine is re-vamping their site.
Hey, play it when you can. A very good source told me it’s “Almost as if you’re experiencing the wonders of Fandango again,” which we both know is amazing.
Assassin’s Creed looks nice, though. I’m getting an Xbox just for Psychonauts and some cult classics, myself, so I’m all glee.
Rayman Raving Rabbids is too funny. Enjoy it on the Wii.

Rayman is really awesome for family fun :)
I play while my kid tries to chew the other controller :`(

Hmm, a year later and all I can say is that I nearly finished it, but I haven’t been able to do so because University started again.
I am a widow.

Kroms: finished what exactly? Rayman or Psychonauts? The latter is still paused in middle of the game :(. I loved it, but now I stopped so many times I lost joy of the story

Psychonauts.
You have to restart it, it’s just good. Really good. The diversity is incredible. Lungfishopolis. The Milkman. Velvatopia. Lots.
October 14th, 2008 at 12:55 am
Kroms: I second you on that one. I’m just not sure restarting it is the wisest decision in the middle of all my duties.
