WordPress 2.2 – Nice Widgets Feature… But!

I have just been trying WordPress 2.2 and I’m really impressed by the new Widgets feature that allows you to drag and drop blocks to the side menu, instead of going into the hassle of updating the menu manually. Much better. Performance wise I still did not notice the difference from my quick experience, however one thing let me down and is stopping me from upgrading to the new version. Plugin compatibility! As it is still very new, this is a common problem with open source projects. Free plugins have to be modified again to support the new release, and for me 2 out of 2 plugins I tried did not seem to work.

I am still playing with it and love it, just need to wait until all my required plugins are there. I would suggest you try it locally as well and see how you can benefit from it, and when are all your plugins fully supported.

UPDATE: WordPress 2.2.1 has just been released with new fixed, and you can get the list of supported plugins on WordPress 2.2.x here.

Better than blogspot then?

Well believe me, hell yeah! Ofcourse I already told you about my shift to wordpress from blogspot before, and this is the new release. It’s an open box at the end, but you will need some experience with it. Blogspot suits anyone much easier to handle.

When I move to a domain, then.
