What I want more from Gmail
Regardless of how fast and brilliant Yahoo! have worked on their new Yahoo! Mail Beta, I am still a bigger fan of Gmail and can’t depend on any other. There are however some quite simple points (from my perspective at least) that can provide much higher usability:
- Bigger (preferrably infinite) mail size: I am surprised no Google reaction to Yahoo infinite one
- I still need to sort: No matter how good your search is, maybe I’m just interested in plain history. I need to be able to sort. For example, now I have over 400 unread email (blame it on someone who sends 14 emails at a time!) so now I have some time and am searching only unread mails. I would like to start from the oldest as it may get forgotten. But NO! I realized I can’t. Search is great, but it’s not all. In the search results as well, it doesn’t tell how much more mails you have. You can go to Newest, Newer, Older but not Oldest!

- Mail size: In the name of God, if you are not gonna give me extra mail space, then let me see mail sizes and sort based on size to eliminate large ones first. I can’t do that either.
- Google Talk: OK, it’s quite simple, fast, and transient.. doesn’t take a full page like Yahoo!. But I think little more colored font is in order.
- Exclude from list: This is something I never saw before but it occurred to me. Many times I send email to certain group, say Friends, but I want to exclude one or two people from that mail (It’s not personal though!). What I do is I dig through the exploded list of contacts and remove the ones I don’t want. Nice thing would be to use “-<contact_name” so automatically after the minus auto completion comes and the contact you select is taken out of the list (if it’s there). Kind of awkward I know, but for me it would be useful.
What else do you see missing in Gmail?

If you like the complexity of GMAIL, You should try BAT… http://www.ritlabs.com . its a powerful offline mail client.
Yeah its client based only. Meaning it needs to be installed on your laptop/pc . Here is a small review i had written long time ago.

Play with it . if you like it then only get into it seriously … as its quite complex initially

I agree, some of these features are so simple yet remain unnecessarily missing.
