Google Custom Search opens for Business
For the benefits of Ad-Free, XML feed of search results, optional Google branding and a few extra advantages in terms of support, Google Custom Search is now open for Business for a small fee, starting at $100/year. While for many, this may not be important, or feasible, large corporates may want to incorporate Google Custom Search in their site, and make it as official search without ads and Google brand. A video of the new service is available here, and there is extra information on the Google Blog. I do hope however the expense does not fire back at the existing Google Custom Search for public. The feature has opened the door for enormous ideas and customized results, and it is a stream of incoming for both publishers and Google them selves.
To have a software cheap business solution like this might be more feasible and attractive than buying the Google Mini. However, the existing Google Custom Search (at least the one for public) is still a bit far from perfect. I can see very much less results from my blog for example on Q8Ba7th than when I search for it on Google. I have reported the problem to Google. Did not get any feedback from them, but soon after I could see only slightly more results on Q8Ba7th. Do search for site:blogallalong.com on Q8Ba7th as well and you won’t get any results at all. The idea is good, a perfect working index would do so much great job, but only then.
