Hotmail generousity doesn’t amuse me

Hotmail size upgrade

I found out Hotmail have upgraded my account size to 5 GB when I was not utilizing %5 of the 2 GB i had. I don’t know if this upgrade is based on location, or they are giving it for low volume users who will not use it anyways. But for me, this doesn’t cover up all the deficiencies in Hotmail and still won’t push me further to use it. It would just make me more relaxed when I sign-up with non-trusted sites that I can hold up more spam mail :). Yahoo have also upgraded me previously to infinite size. Only Gmail aren’t. They didn’t even accept my payment for extra space! If only Yahoo! was as good as Google.

Lol, between all three hotmail is rather the most user friendly… or maybe because people are just used to it… now gmail is progressing email wise, since everyone is already converting … but yahoo was never the best.

LOL khalas Bashar forget Gmail, welcome to Hotmail =p

Blue Dress: Sorry I’ll have to disagree. Hotmail MAY have been the best late 90′s. Then Yahoo was much more stable and better. Gmail now is the superior most new emails are Gmail. Yahoo did a very good job with their new AJAX interface. Hotmail was never stable, has worst spam filter, and they launched their new interface which is times worse.

According to PC World, Hotmail was ranked # 20 of world’s worst 25 sites.

I didnt say it was the best, user friendly was my point.

and you do have facts here so i cant argue ;)

Hotmail is nowhere near what the other services have to offer.

Blue Dress: I don’t see the friendly part of it, but if you feel so about it. :)

All of those services can easily oversell their storage space, as most users will usually not take up more than 1~2%. This is how Yahoo is offering “infinite” space, although I’m sure that they will start closing accounts if they detect abuse.

Besides, individual emails are still limited to 10~20 MB in size, so it’s not like anyone can start hosting large files in their email.

Tony: You’re absolutely right. Yahoo just played it smart marketing wise and Gmail got struck with all heavy use that Firefox extensions turned their mail storage into file storage :)
