Wii Fit or Lazy Fits More?

While Wii keeps promising the awaited Wii Fit that will launch in May, that some say would let you cancel your gym membership, others are making things more easy and lazy-proof with their Brain Control headset that would allow users wearing the $299 headset (cheap.. I’m buying one) to move objects by only thinking of their actions! The headset can also detect more than 30 different emotions and actions, and can also use your facial expressions as avatars to the game character.

While this technology is not new, it’s newly brought to end user and in the gaming industry. This headset is expected to be out in the market later this year, so it’s pretty soon. You can see the Brain Control headset link for snapshot and video of it, and also enjoy the other video from YouTub here.

One thing that comes to my mind is, how does outside interference affect the game? Say there is someone talking to you, a baby jumping over your lap, your hear a joke, or see an eye-catchy thing, or even sneeze. And this happens before you give the final boss his mortal combo attack. OUCH!!!

Anyways, you can find all those news story links and more on Buzz Out Load.

It would be sweet to give complex commands using that headset, I wonder if the hands movements are necessary, because if not, then this brings new hope to those who can’t use their hands to interact with devices and of course gaming consoles!

… This is just another step towards a Totalitarian society …

DeadEye: Actually I don’t think it is important. From the article, it reads human commands, and there isn’t anything attached to the hand anyways. And best, it’s already in practice if you see this video

Kroms: Hmm.. why do you think so?

Bashar have you watched one of the batman movie series that includes the riddler? I think that technology is the first step to that society. Well in my own thinking or maybe just a product of my weird imagination. :)

I don’t like this. It seems that we’re putting out more personal info everyday. If we have technology that responds to brain-waves…I mean honestly…

AzureKai: Umm.. no sorry AzureKai, I haven’t. But time have taught me sci-fi today is the future. Submarines of such size and advancement weren’t invented when 20,000 leagues under the sea was written. Also, when Star Trek came up, they didn’t think Air TV will be a reality!

So I would guess, yes!

Kroms: I understand your point. It freaked me out as well, but we have to adapt to it sooner or later.

Its really cool, but it must not have worked very well. I’ve never even heard of it. It seems something like this would have caught on quick it it worked.
