Bad news for Vista, XP SP3 is out
Microsoft have finally made the official release of Windows XP SP3, which in their words “includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system”. Yet, the public is giving it more attention and interest than Microsoft hopes for, in it’s continuing effort to kill the OS, and replace it with Vista. Despite their official announcement to kill XP from retail store this coming June, PC manufacturers like Dell and HP have found a loophole in the possible downgrade option from Vista to XP, and will sell their computers preinstalled with downgraded XP version. This would ofcourse incur little extra cost, that they seem to be welling to take.

Remote Desktop will stop working.
Remote Registry Service is gone
Remote shutdown using the shutdown command is not functional
When you use the new RDP client, (Yep they snuck that in there too) it will not correctly size the screen.
Even worse, I tried the MS chat support, Here are a few of my favorite lines. I swear they are not made up.

Why does RDP and remote registry quit working after SP3 install

Most probably its because of some changes in the system registry.
I never would have thought of that, but then later he got even more succint;
I would also like to know why the new RDP client cannot set the screen resolution correctly

It is because of change made in the system files by service pack 3.
I had to finally end with this final statement, Please take your knowledge base to your supervisor and tell him it is not worth the paper it is printed on. I will call the support center in the morning and ask for the ones who know this issue to assist me. Good Day
Sorry folks, SP3 is not for anyone who works remotely.

So when they said “which do not significantly change customer’s experience”. They thought it’s good for vista. The irony is, I think that this is exactly what people wanted. Why do I have relearn where is my “Control Panel” and have to deal with clicking more confirmation boxes, If the only thing I get is some fancy “AERO” and a huge OS that eats up my RAM.
Since I’ve heard the word Vista I’ve been hearing bad news about it. Good lessons for microsoft to learn.
