Though I did it the old fashioned way, I had to go through all my +200 contacts and add the eighth digit manually. It was nice to kill some time in Ramadan at work when I had nothing to do. ;P

The phone is HTC Tytn II. It’s Windows based, has lots of features, GPS, Mobile Office, Qwerty Keyboard, touch screen. For the price though, the phone is not durable enough. After a while, it’s slower in response than older Nokia phones. It shuts down and restarts occasionally, and the camera is really one of the worst I’ve seen.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not slamming it to the ground. It’s just for 230 KD I paid for, I expect something much more usable and stable.

maryam: I hope what you say is true. Initially both number plans work until they kill the 7 digits completely. Ansam: Try the converter if you like. Java version seems more stable so far.

I’ve been trying for two days the new numbering ;p , to see if they started on it and didn’t inform the public yet. I think they’re going to do it on phases so both numbering with be routable, if you dial 7 or 8 digits, then the first system will be obsolete of course. Being a Zain customer, I haven’t received their announcement yet. We’ll see how this whole new transfer goes down. I’m kinda dreading updating the whole telephone system both on personal devices and work systems!!
