There is both good news, and bad news. The bad news is, MMORPG game addicts are gonna have another reason to waste additional hours on the internet. The good news however is, those additional hours are gonna be wasted on Pirates of the Caribbean Online. The company have officially announced the game is available for download at no charge, and players can play the light weight version of the game for FREE as well. That means even people who can’t get their hands on their parent’s credit cards get to play, glad for you friends. A monthly $9.95 subscription fee will apply to those who want to explore and utilize the whole features, triple the amount of content than in there is in the FREE account.

The offer is not surprising at all though if we look at the developing studio. Disney did not acquire outside help on this project, and rather prefered to use the efforts of Disney’s Virtual Reality Studio and Disney’s Online Premium Content Division. I am not sure the teams have great experience in that field, and with shareholders like World of Warcraft around, the battlefield won’t easily be theirs at all. Things will get more difficult when Lord of the Rings Online, Shadow of Angmar is released, also due this year. The graphics quality of the Lord of the Rings easily outperforms PoC as I can see. You can take a look at the trailer and screenshots from the official site of the game. Compare the quality and see. In general, movie video games are not big hit, and for Walt Disney movie games, it’s even extra special. Being FREE however will encourage many people like me to give it a shot, under one condition only. I have to be Captain Jack Sparrow Savy!

Well it’s been a while since we posted about games, so here is a bit of news for the online WoW game fans, probably sad however. eBay will soon be disallowing virtual game items selling on their site to avoid possible legal actions from companies such as Blizzard. eBay is saying that this is for the for the overall health of the market place.

Not that I encourage the idea, but if the buyer and seller are happy, I think the only logical reason for disallowing it is really possible lawsuits from game publishers concerned about people using their intellectual property to make profit. Even though if I was in their shoes, I can only see it brining more and more customers. Seller will keep playing to sell more, and buyer will keep playing for what he paid for! Anyways, disallowing virtual items is expected to take place next month.

On a different topic, also in the online games however, online game developer WildTangent is talking about the challenges facing online game developers to get their games working on Windows Vista. Vista seems to be incompatible with many of the downloadable games from Yahoo, RealArcade, AOL, and even the MSN Games as it self as well. I don’t know about you, but for me, if it doesn’t have games, then it’s not good.
